Disha Foundation, an NGO headquatered in Nasik-Maharashtra, working in Health, Livelihood, Legal aid and support with various vulnerable populations in India since 2002, via direct intervention, Research and policy dialogue with with various stakeholders – NGOs, corporate, government (central, state and local) and global bodies such as World Health Organization (WHO), International Labour Organization (ILO) and International Organization on Migration (IOM).
View our brochureDr. Anjali Borhade is a founder president of Disha Foundation. She is trained in MS in social work and MPH in International Health from Tulane University, USA, and PhD research degree in Population Health from the University of Oxford, UK.
She is pioneer public health professional in India, with specific expertise and passion on
Urbanisation, rural and tribal migration, livelihood, urban health and development issues. In the last 20 years, she is actively engaged in various research, implementation and high level advocacy initiatives on Livelihood migration, development and public health issues. She has served as an Advisor to National Commission for Scheduled Tribes on Tribal Livelihood and migration issues.
Currently she is engaged as Regional advisor with World Health Organization, South Asia Regional Office for Strategic Action plan for migrants and refugees health. She has provided technical support to various state and national governments and UN agencies like World Health Organisation, UNIFEM, UNICEF, UNESCO and UNDP for improving programs and policies for vulnerable populations in India and other low and middle income countries.
