Mangal (Mars) and the tradition of daan

In Vedic astrology, Mangal (Mars) is the planet of energy, courage, land and discipline. A strong Mangal gives confidence and drive. A troubled Mangal, such as in Mangal Dosha (Manglik), is believed to bring anger, delays, conflict or tension in marriage and property matters.

Scriptures and traditions recommend daan (charity) as a remedy, especially on Tuesdays, the day ruled by Mangal. Items linked to Mars include red lentils (masoor dal), jaggery, wheat, red cloth and copper.

At Disha, these same offerings become food, warm clothing, health care and legal help for people who need them most. Give in the spirit of the tradition, and let your gift do real work.

This section describes astrological belief and tradition. For a personal remedy, please consult your own astrologer.
